On July 8, 1999, Lexington City Council passed a Fairness Ordinance with a vote of 12-3. The local ordinance, 201-99, added sexual identity and sexual preference as non-discrimination factors for Equal Opportunity Employment along with race, gender, religion, children, national origin, sex, age, disability and genetic information.
